Position Summary

The Production Manager is a full-time leadership position based in Franklin, Tennessee, that reports to the Chief Operating Officer. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing residential roofing and exterior projects from sales handoff through final completion, ensuring each project meets company standards for quality, safety, customer experience, schedule, and profitability.

The Production Manager leads subcontractor and supplier coordination, validates project scopes and estimates, manages production schedules and costs, resolves field issues, and supervises the Production Assistant. The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on construction professional who combines sound judgment, strong leadership, technical knowledge, and disciplined follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the production process from sales handoff through final inspection, completion documentation, and closeout.
• Review contracts, estimates, measurements, scopes of work, material selections, and job notes before scheduling production.
• Prepare or validate estimates for residential roofing and exterior projects and identify scope gaps, pricing concerns, or production risks before work begins.
• Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer commitments, crew capacity, material availability, permitting requirements, and weather conditions.
• Coordinate project start dates, material orders, supplier deliveries, subcontractor assignments, equipment, permits, and site-access requirements.
• Recruit, qualify, onboard, schedule, and manage subcontractors and crews in accordance with company standards and applicable requirements.
• Communicate job expectations, scopes, safety requirements, quality standards, and completion deadlines clearly to subcontractors and team members.
• Conduct pre-production reviews and regular jobsite visits to monitor safety, workmanship, property protection, progress, cleanliness, and compliance with the approved scope.
• Identify and resolve material shortages, installation concerns, property damage, scheduling conflicts, change orders, and other field issues promptly.
• Maintain timely, professional communication with customers throughout production and take ownership of escalated questions or concerns.
• Coordinate with sales representatives, the supplementation team, office staff, suppliers, subcontractors, inspectors, and management to keep projects moving efficiently.
• Ensure project photographs, notes, receipts, permits, inspection results, change orders, completion documents, and customer communications are accurately recorded in company systems.
• Review project costs, labor invoices, material usage, returns, credits, and variances to protect gross margin and minimize waste.
• Verify subcontractor labor-payment documentation and submit complete, accurate records for weekly review and approval.
• Manage production materials, tools, safety equipment, vehicles, and inventory responsibly.
• Lead final inspections, punch-list completion, customer walkthroughs, and resolution of outstanding production items.
• Supervise, train, and develop the Production Assistant; assign priorities, monitor performance, and provide clear direction and accountability.
• Track and report production performance, project status, schedule risks, quality concerns, and operational needs to the Chief Operating Officer.
• Establish and improve production procedures, checklists, quality-control standards, and workflows that support safe, consistent, and scalable operations.
• Follow and reinforce company safety policies, manufacturer requirements, building codes, and applicable industry regulations.
• Represent Strong Quality Roofing professionally with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and the community.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of project management, production management, or jobsite supervision experience in residential roofing, exterior restoration, or construction is required.
• Demonstrated experience estimating residential roofing or exterior projects is required.
• Working knowledge of roofing systems, materials, installation practices, jobsite safety, and quality-control standards is required; experience with siding, gutters, windows, painting, or related exterior services is preferred.
• Prior experience recruiting, coordinating, and managing subcontractors or field crews is required.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to set expectations, solve problems, hold others accountable, and develop team members.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to manage customer expectations and resolve concerns professionally.
• Strong financial awareness, including the ability to review project costs, labor, materials, change orders, and margin variances.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook and able to learn company CRM, estimating, scheduling, and photo-documentation platforms.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a consistent commitment to quality, safety, and customer service.
• Comfortable climbing ladders, walking roofs, working at heights, and inspecting active construction sites.
• Able to walk, stand, bend, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
• Able to safely lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Candidates must maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the Company’s insurance requirements.
• An acceptable driving record is required.
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are strongly preferred.
• OSHA certification and relevant manufacturer or industry certifications are preferred.
